What kinds of gold can I sell?
We accept solid gold and platinum pieces, in any state. Your jewelry doesn’t have to be in perfect condition for you to sell it - broken, dirty, missing a matching pair or cracked, loose or missing stones won’t impact the selling ability of your pieces.
We currently accept gold and platinum pieces such as -

What piece can I not sell?
We do not buy gold plated, gold vermeil or gold filled pieces and sterling silver jewelry. We also do not take dental gold or bouillon. If you are looking to sell coins, we recommend going to a coin shop that specializes in what you’re looking to sell. We also do not purchase diamonds or gemstones - if your piece includes stones, we can take them out and give them back to you for use in a future piece.
Should I sell gold jewelry I no longer wear?
Selling gold jewelry you no longer wear is a great way to get value out of pieces that don’t fit into your life anymore. If you are in a situation where you could use cash or simply can’t stand to see these pieces gather dust in your drawer, selling your jewelry is an easy, beneficial way to get value out of them.
Can I resign my pieces?
Yes! Should I sell my inherited jewelry pieces?
You do not have to keep gold jewelry simply because you inherited it. If the pieces are not your style, broken beyond repair or simply unwanted, then selling them is a good alternative option. We recommend going through the jewelry, choosing the pieces you and your family will enjoy, and then selling the rest. The financial value of your inherited jewelry can be put towards something that will actively honor your loved one’s memory, not gather dust. But, we know how it can be difficult and uneasy to part with such sentimental items. Whenever you’re ready, we’re here to help.
Should I sell or redesign my pieces?
This answer will depend on what pieces you have, how they compare to your current style, and the end goal you have in mind. Do you love wearing rings, but haven’t been pulling any of the styles in your jewelry box? Have you stopped wearing jewelry but want at least one piece that you can pull out everyday? Maybe you’ve done a full closet clean out, offered pieces to your family members and are just left with jewelry you know won’t get worn again, even by you. Resign your pieces if you want to put your jewelry to good use. Sell if you know your jewelry phase is over and would rather buy something else. The good news is we can help you with both choices!
What if I’m not sure if I want to sell my pieces?
We know that it can be hard to part with pieces that you’ve had for a long time and have sentimental value attached too. But just because you stopped in to get your pieces looked at and to get a number for them, doesn’t mean you have to sell them that day or at all. You can take as much time as you need to make your decision - we’ll be here when you’re ready.
How do high gold prices influence gold buying?
Despite not being used as a currency anymore, gold is traded on a global market everyday. The gold market influences what gold prices are on a daily basis, sometimes changing drastically in just 24 hours. The gold market determines what gold’s monetary value is, or gold prices, so if gold prices are higher, your gold is worth more. When gold prices are high, you can sell your gold for more money.
Is now a good time to sell gold?
In terms of gold prices, yes! While gold started at around $2,700 per troy ounce in January 2025, gold prices rose steadily throughout the year. In early 2026, gold prices reached a record-breaking $5,500 before falling to $4,500. Currently, gold sits at around $4,300* (last updated 9/24/2026). It may not be the peak of 2025, but that is still a 125% increase over gold prices in September 2020.
However, there is no one perfect time to sell your gold. While the gold market certainly has experienced some highs over the last few years, there is no way to predict how it will act day-to-day. How do you determine my jewelry’s gold value?
The first step when determining your gold’s value is to check for a purity stamp or hallmark. This stamp tells us the karat of the metal, and if it is plated. Not all pieces have a stamp so we also use a gold tester to determine or confirm the type of precious metal of your piece. If we have any concerns, we may ask to scrap the piece - if your piece is plated, we will be able to tell after scrapping it.
Once we confirm your precious metal, we weigh it and calculate what we can give you for it. Our gold buying prices change based on the gold market, so you know you are getting a fair price.
Is my jewelry worth more than just its gold?
If you are looking to sell your entire piece, then we recommend an estate store. They will take the gemstones and style into consideration. At Vanscoy, Maurer and Bash Diamond Jewelers, we purchase pieces for their precious metal value, based on the gold market prices.
Where should I sell my gold?
With the rise of online avenues, there are even more places to sell your gold including online shops such as Ebay or Facebook Marketplace, pawn stores, traveling gold buyers and jewelry stores.
